The use of medicinal plant are being extensively used way back from centuries. During the medieval period plants are used a medicine for the treatment of various ailments through the family tradition which were passed from one generation to another one. Today the world is looking after treatment of various ailments through herbal based medicines. Gradually the knowledge of medicinal plant has become the hour of need. In India, there is a need of hour to consolidate these frameworks of health knowledge into the mainstream. Although medicinal plants are in use since long, yet there is an impending need for systematic evidence regarding their quality, safety and efficacy in a concise form available to scientific community. Henceforth the quality control an rational use of these treatments have turned out to be imperative concern both for policymakers and public. There is also a need of participation and sharing of data among various disciplines, associations, organization and nations over the glob hampering research and development. Due to non availability of such information AYUSH has thus backed off its development across the country and globally as well.
