The Theme of the symposium was addressed by the invited experts in the 7-broad categories i.e. (i) Services provided by water to the ecosystem, (ii) inter-basin water transfer, (iii) desalination, (iv) conjunctive use of water, (v) rain water harvesting/conservation of water resources, artificial water recharge, remediation of pollution of ground water, (vi) health, and (vii) other issues and innovation. Due to the importance of the subject in South Asia and a large pool of highly professional scientists and engineers within the country, the response was overwhelming. Presentations therefore had to be brief highlighting the main messages. Some presentations were accomodated in the poster session.
