Plants have played significant and prominent role as medicine. In the third world countries even today, medicinal needs of about 75 percent people are met by crude-herbal preparations. The use of herbal medicinal products and supplements has increased tremendously over the past three decades with not less than 80% of people worldwide relying on them for some part of primary healthcare.
In this, Chapter 1 highlights the genesis of the Council and its activities. The second chapter belongs to the phytochemical research work done by the Council. Another chapter of drug standardization and quality assurance and contribution of Council in development of standards for Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia has been added. The details of Research Project conducted in last 50 Years have also been recorded. At the last detailed list of total work done in single plant raw material, compund formulation has been given.
